Police issue update following accident on A61 near Chesterfield involving Mini Cooper and Kia Picanto

Two cars were involved in an accident which caused disruption in Wingerworth earlier today (October 3).

Motorists were facing disruption on A61 Derby Road earlier today due to a road accident near the junction of Derby Road and Longedge Lane.

Emergency services, including Derbyshire police and ambulance service, were called to the scene.

Drivers reported disruption and long delays in the area between 11.30 am and 1.30 pm.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire police said: “We received reports of a collision in Derby Road, Wingerworth, just after 11.20 am on Thursday 3 October. The incident involved a Mini Cooper and a Kia Picanto. No one is thought to have suffered any serious injuries.”

The traffic conditions in the area have now returned to normal.
