Busy Chesterfield road reopens after fire crews tackle house blaze

A busy road through Chesterfield has reopened this afternoon after a house fire.

The blaze broke out at a property on Newbold Road at around 8.52am this morning (Monday, September 27).

Motorists were urged to avoid the area after police closed part of the road between the junction with Littlemoor and the junction with Highfield Lane.

Firefighters from Chesterfield, Staveley, Dronfield and Nottinghamshire’s Mansfield Fire Station attended the scene and were able to extinguish the blaze.

In an update shortly after 2.30pm, Newbold Safer Neighbourhood Team revealed that the closure on Newbold Road has now been lifted.

“Thank you again for your patience whilse we dealth with this mornings incident,” they said.

Pictures from the scene taken earlier today showed firefighters using an aerial ladder platform to tackle the fire within a row of terrace houses and takeaway shops.

An investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the blaze.
