A537 Cat and Fiddle reopens as Derbyshire drivers urged to travel with care

The A537 Cat and Fiddle is now passable with care according to Derbyshire County Council, after crews cleared the road in the early hours of this morning (February 9).

Gritters are also working on clearing Holme Moss and Snake Pass and the local authority said it hopes the two roads will reopen later today.

Drivers are encouraged to only make essential trips and to allow more time for journeys due to the heavy snow and ice which still remains in large areas of the county.

It comes after more of the white stuff fell across Derbyshire overnight and forecasters predict more snow and disruption throughout the day as Storm Darcy continues.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the county and large parts of northern England until tomorrow (February 10) as it is set to get as cold as -4°C.
