Three '˜flasher' incidents on canal path in Ilkeston


The first incident took place on Wednesday, September 28 at about 10am, when a man exposed himself to a woman, near to what is known locally as Jonny’s Park. He was described as white, in his late 40s/early 50s and was wearing a cream jacket, black trousers and had dark brown hair. He was carrying a black laptop case.
The second report was received on Monday, October 10 at 10.30am when a woman was jogging along the Erewash canal near to Ilkeston Football Club.

Hide AdAs she approached Jonny’s Fields, next to a footbridge she saw a man that was described as white, in his 30s, between 5ft 2ins and 5ft 4ins, chubby and had dark coloured hair. He was wearing a dark coloured thigh length jacket and dark coloured bottoms.
The man looked at the woman and sexually exposed himself to her.
The third incident was reported on Friday, October 28 between 12.45pm and 1.15pm when a woman was walking along the canal path from Canal Vue towards the Bridge public house.
The woman was walking her dog and saw a man walking towards her. As the man got near to her he acknowledged her then sexually exposed himself to her.

Hide AdThe man fits the description of the man in the second incident but was wearing elasticated waist dark coloured bottoms, a blue jumper and trainers.
Detecttive Constable Gavin Owen from Erewash CID said: “It is concerning that there have been a number of reported incidents in the same area during the daytime. I would advise anyone who is walking along pathways and secluded areas to be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious incidents to police.”
