Thieves ram-raid Bakewell clothing store

Thieves have carried out a dawn ram-raid on a Bakewell clothing store and stolen expensive jackets.

At 4.30am this morning, thieves targeted Brocklehursts country clothing store, in Bridge Street, Bakewell.

An eye witness described two men in a white Ford Transit van pulling up alongside the store. One of the men then got out of the van, smashed the shop’s front window and went inside in search of goods to steal.

The theft was carried out in under ten minutes and the van sped off in the direct of Rutland Square.

Staff at Brocklehursts have this morning confirmed that a number of Barbour jackets – which sell for between £100 and £200 each – have been stolen. A full stock check will have to be carried out before the exact figure is known.

This is not the first time that the store has been targeted.

On 17 June 2013, three men in a white Ford Transit van ram-raided the store and stole Barbour jackets in an almost identical manner.

Updates to follow.
