Thieves leave cash machine '˜smoking' after dawn raid

Thieves who tried to break into a cash machine at a Derbyshire service station in a dawn raid left it '˜smoking' say police

Police say they received reports of smoke coming from an ATM at the Co-op service station on Chesterfield Road Duckmanton at 4.24am today (Wednesday December 14).

Officers found someone had tried to get in to the machine but had failed in their attempts.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said investigators were still at the scene and are appealing for witnesses.

She said: “Anyone who was in the area between 3-4am and can help us with our enquires please contact us on 101, quoting incident 122 of December 14, or crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
