Students have a splashing time on outward bounds day

Youngsters have been brushing up on their paddling skills during team building exercises at Cromford Wharf.

An outward bounds company taught year 7 students from Highfields School, in Matlock, bush craft skills, team building and canoeing . They even provided a climbing wall on which pupils could test their courage and agility.

In a statement, heads of year Maggie Brown and Louise Redhead said: “We find our Cromford activity days invaluable as they help students get to know each other away from school and we see them visibly grow in confidence from achieving outdoor skills, pushing themselves to their limits and encouraging each other.

“We are lucky to have such great local facilities that we can use.  It is also of immense value in terms of helping students to enjoy their new school.”
