A parade, remembrance service and rousing flypast from Battle of Britain Memorial Flight aircraft formed part of the town’s Armed Forces Day, which ran from Saturday-Sunday (July 7-8).

Graham Weighhill, treasurer of Staveley Armed Forces and Veterans Association, said: “The event was a huge success with the flypasts from the Hurricane and Spitfire definitely being the highlight.

“The event lets veterans and serving personnel know they’re in the community’s thoughts and that they recognise sacrifices made over the years.”
