SOUTH NORMANTON: Man’s death treated as suspicious

Police are investigating the death of a man who was found collapsed in a street in South Normanton.

The man was discovered by a couple of people who were walking along Mansfield Road at 11.35pm on Friday.

He was taken to King’s Mill Hospital where he was certified dead on arrival.

He has not yet been formally identified but is thought to be 32-years-old and not from the South Normanton area.

A post-mortem examination will take place to determine the cause of his death, which is being treated as suspicious. Officers from the East Midlands Major Crime Unit are working with local Derbyshire officers on the case.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said: “A search of the area has been made overnight and will continue today. House-to-house enquiries will be carried out during the weekend.”
