Social workers meet MP

Representatives from a social work team from Derbyshire County Council, who won a top prize at the Social Worker of the Year Awards, have celebrated their success with the Minister of State for Care and Support, Norman Lamb MP, at an exclusive reception in the House of Commons.

Representatives from an “extremely capable” and “high performing” social work team from Derbyshire County Council, who won a top prize at the Social Worker of the Year Awards, has celebrated their success with the Minister of State for Care and Support, Norman Lamb MP, at an exclusive reception in the House of Commons.

Derbyshire County Council’s Adult Care department was named Employer of the Year at the prestigious Social Worker of the Year Awards in November. Members of the team were invited to meet the Minister at yesterday’s parliamentary reception to help officially launch the 2014 awards.

Speaking about the event, Julie Heath, Derbyshire County Council’s Group Manager for the South Derbyshire Fieldwork Teams, said: “It’s been such a momentous occasion, coming to the House of Commons and meeting the Minister. It makes a change to celebrate social work and recognise the positive impacts that social workers have on the lives of vulnerable people.”
