SICKENING: Thugs cut off horses tails in targeted attack in Derbyshire

Three 'defenceless' horses have had their tails cut off by vandals in Derbyshire over the past few weeks.

Police are hunting the offenders after the most recent attack last weekend, where a horse had its tail cut off on a field on Mickley Lane in Stretton, Shirland.

PCSO Kate Hodnett from the North Wingfield, Pilsley, Stonebroom and Shirland Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “This is the third horse to be targeted in that field over the past two weeks with two other horses also having their tails cut off.

“This act on a defenceless animal will not be tolerated in our community and we are working hard to find those responsible.

“I would urge anyone who knows who is responsible or who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the Mickley Lane area to contact us.”

The most recent offence took place sometime overnight between Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13.
