Police are appealing for information after the driver of a car which was involved in a crash with a van fled the scene.

At about 4.35pm yesterday (Tuesday, September 28), a Mercedes Sprinter van and a Vauxhall Vectra car collided on Newbold Road, Chesterfield, near the Chesterfield Arms pub.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police said the driver of the Vectra left the scene before officers arrived.

The spokesman also said that a “minor scuffle” took place.

Motorists travelling through the area experienced delays due to the incident.

The driver of the Mercedes went to Chesterfield Hospital for a check-up. No serious injuries were sustained.
