Shop worker threatened during Ripley robbery

Police investigating a robbery in Ripley are appealing for witnesses.

At 8.20pm on Sunday, a man walked into Nijjars Save n Save convenience store on High Street and demanded cash from the till.

The shop assistant refused to hand over any money. The man then took a glass drinks bottle from a shelf and made further threats. After being refused a second time he grabbed alcohol and cigarettes and left the store.

He ran towards the Pear Tree pub and into the council car park where he got into a silver Vauxhall Vectra.

He was described as white and was wearing a hooded top with the hood worn up over a peaked cap.

A 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old man have been arrested and are currently being questioned by police.
