She was inspired by her grandma’s friend, Denise Pearson, who has breast cancer and lost her hair.

Mum Kelly, of Barlborough Road, Clowne, said: “I was brushing Ellie’s hair when she said ‘I might have my hair cut for children who don’t have any’. It made me well up. I am so proud of her.”

The pupil at Clowne Junior School had only ever had her hair trimmed prior to the sponsored cut which is expected to raise more than £500. Her auntie Vicky Smith, a professional hairdresser, cut five inches off Ellie’s waist-length locks.
