Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard last Wednesday, October 28, how Jameel Mellor, 19, of Booth Street, Ripley, smashed two panes of the window at the home on Ledo Avenue, Ripley.

Prosecuting solicitor Becky Allsop told a previous hearing that occupants had complained to Mellor about noise in the street, but he picked up a scooter and threw it at the window.

The court heard how Mellor was remorseful. He pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage after the incident on October 12 and was sentenced to a 12 month community order with an eight-week curfew and a rehabilitation activity. He must also pay £295 in costs and charges.
