Hide AdThey didn’t just bring the sunshine with them to the city yesterday - Ant and Dec gave a masterclass in why they outshine the rest as Britain’s modern day Eric and Ernie.
Born entertaintainers, they really can sing, dance and crack jokes with the best of them.
Playing the first of a two night stop - they are back again tonight - the Geordie duo, with their cheeky charm and effortless banter, brought the weekend forward fronting a live version of their hit TV show Saturday Night Takeaway.

Hide AdTakeaway On Tour Is an injection of instant feel good factor; an amazing mix of dance, comedy, music and game show with a star-studded guest list for good measure.
It’s a case of fasten your seat belts for this white-knuckle fun ride.
From the moment they stepped into the spotlight, at the back of the Motorpoint, they hit the ground running - belting out The Boys Are Back In Town as they sprinted to the stage, stopping only for an occasional fan selfie.

Then there’s the entire cast of Riverdance for an amazing routine, with Ant and Dec jigging along proving they can turn their hands, or feet, to anything.
It was too late for Little Ant and Dec, tucked up in bed, but even they made an appearance on the big screen in a hilarious recorded chat quizzing Little Mix.

Hide AdBig Ant and Dec had done their homework and had a shock surprise for audience member Claire Truelove, aged 27, a Rotherham shop assistant, who was presented with a bad behaviour Lifetime Achievement Award by Hallam FM’s Big John. Oughtibridge Primary School pupils were also on stage for a hilarious Ant and Dec school challenge.
But the Arena roof almost came off in the second half when six-months pregnant Stacey Shaw, 26, from Doncaster, who was there with fiance Mark, played Win The Ads and won the lot.
She went home with a new car, family holiday, cash plus tons of other goodies.

Watching telly’s top twosome on your sofa is one thing, but the live tour turns the Arena into your living room and brings the boys to life right in front of you.
The dazzling show, which races along at break neck speed, ends with another Ant and Dec challenge, this time involving just about everyone on the Arena floor. I’ll not spoil it.

Hide AdThen it’s one last song and dance routine, as Ant and Dec roll back the years to remember their PJ and Duncan days, with a mash up of songs including, of coure, their chart-topper Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble.
But they aptly finish with a musical tribute to none other than Eric and Ernie. Ant and Dec you are our modern day kings of Saturday night TV - long may you continue to bring us sunshine.
