Reservoir to appear on countryfile

Presenter Adam Henson is set to talk about the ongoing work to protect Severn Trent’s water supplies to Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire for future generations as part of a feature on the show, due to air on Sunday, July 7 at 8pm.

Severn Trent Water’s project manager, Duncan Wratten, said: “It was great to welcome Adam and the Countryfile team to Ambergate reservoir. This Sunday’s programme shows how we, and our construction partners, Costain called on local business, Arraslea Shire’s real horse power to protect ancient woodland neighbouring the reservoir.

“We’re just starting out on our £30 million investment to make sure that customers in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire always receive a reliable supply of water. We’ve already carried out extensive surveys to make sure that the construction of the new reservoirs will have a lasting positive effect. This programme demonstrates how ideas guided by thorough research can be turned into reality.”

Costain’s community liaison manager, Jacqui Bolsover, said: “We’re already working closely with the local community to make sure that everyone’s kept up-to-date on our progress and can feedback on our plans.

“Our team will become part of the community for the next four years and we’ve already invested more than £60,000 with local businesses, employing five local people and further recruitment will be made in the coming months.”

Mr Wratten added: “We’re working with long term benefits in mind and Countryfile’s visit demonstrates one small snapshot of how we’ll continue to invest in the local community and environment for many years to come.”
