Race competitor broke his leg

Derby Mountain rescue team helped a competitor in the Four Inns Race Walk who had broken his leg.

The team attended the incident on Saturday, March 24, after a 40-year-old fell on Black Hill End on the descent from Westend Moss injuring their leg.

The man’s team raised the alarm and a section from the rescue team were dispatched to the scene where it transpired he had broken his leg and an air ambulance was requested.

The man was transferred to the care of the North West Air Ambulance Charity helicopter and flown to the Royal Oldham Hospital for further treatment.
