Christ Church Primary School, Henry Bradley Infants School in Brimington and the nursery at Mastin Moor’s Norbriggs Primary School will be closed for the Derbyshire County Council elections being held on Thursday, May 6.

A spokesperson for Chesterfield Borough Council said: “We have tried to avoid using schools as polling stations and have searched for alternative venues but we could not find alternative venues for all schools.

"Where we have used schools we have worked with the headteachers to try and minimise disruption, this includes using designated entrances and exits with clear signage and has meant only one school and two nurseries will be closed.”

Other councils across the country have made similar decisions, with pupils nationwide trying to catch up on missed schooling caused by the pandemic.
