Police seek information about two armed robberies in Eckington

Police are appealing for information about two separate armed robberies in Eckington this week.

The first one happened at about 9.30pm on Wednesday March 8 on Fir Road in the town.

A 40-year-old man from Nottinghamshire was approached by two men, armed with a knife, who threatened him and demanded his wallet. They ran off in the direction of Elm Road.

Both men had their faces covered. One of the suspects was more than six feet tall and was wearing a dark sweater, grey tracksuit bottoms and gloves. The other was shorter, about five feet five inches tall, and was wearing similar clothing and gloves.

The victim wasn’t injured.

Police would particularly like to hear from two males and a female who were outside the nearby Premier shop at around 9pm that evening.

The second offence happened at a convenience store on Ravencar Road in Eckington at 4.10pm yesterday (Thursday March 9).

Two men went into the shop and threatened the assistant with a knife. They stole money from the till and chocolate from the display.

One man is described as being white, about six feet tall, and in this mid to late twenties. He had the lower part of his face covered. He was wearing a blue T shirt and light brown trousers. He was carrying a black rucksack.
