Police reopen major Derbyshire road hours after 'serious' two car collision

A busy Derbyshire road which was closed for hours following a ‘serious’ two car crash earlier this morning, has been reopened by police.

The A6135 Station Road between B6419 Hague Lane (Renishaw) and B6053 Staveley Lane (Eckington) was closed by officers after two vehicles collided in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday, October 7).

Police have thanked drivers for ‘their patience’ and for avoiding the area as officers were called to the scene at just before 5.40am.

Derbyshire Constabulary said in a tweet: “The A6135 Station Road, between #Renishaw and #Eckington has now been reopened following a serious collision this morning.

The 73 bus suspended the service from Eckington Bus Station this morning following the crash.

In a tweet, Stagecoach Yorkshire wrote: ““#SHEFFBUS Due to a serious RTC at Staion Rd Renishaw Service 73 will not be serving Eckington Bus Station @07:33. and will be diverted until further notice.”
