Several public appeals have been made to try and find Mr Beardsley.

Over the years, police have been notified of several possible sightings of Mr Beardsley both abroad and in the UK, including one fairly promising lead in Birmingham – but the man in question turned out not to be him.

This week, a Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We would urge anyone with any information about Tim’s whereabouts to contact the force on 101.”

People can also contact the charity Missing People on 116 000.
