Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard last Tuesday how police raided Joanne Bond’s home, on Chesterfield Road, North Wingfield, where she admitted she had cultivated the plants over three years.

Prosecuting solicitor Becky Allsop said police found 15 cannabis plants and the 39-year-old stated she was growing the drug for herself.

Denny Lau, defending, said Bond had suffered with an alcohol problem and had turned to cannabis as an alternative.

Bond pleaded guilty to producing cannabis plants and was later sentenced on May 11. She received a 12 month community order with an alcohol treatment, a two-month curfew and rehabilitation. She must pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
