Police duo look after communities around Bakewell

Officers from Bakewell Safer Neighbourhood Team will be looking after communities in two more areas after the departure of a PCSO.

PC Ian Hyde and PCSO Hayley Grundy, from the town SNT, are now also running the Tideswell, Litton, Baslow and Beeley team and the one in Stanton, Youlgreave and White Peak Villages.

The pair took over the team following the departure of long-serving PCSO Jon Taylor, who has left to train as a regular Derbyshire Constabulary PC.

PC Hyde and PCSO Grundy will be heading out into the community across their new areas over the next few weeks to get to know the people they will be serving.

Sergeant Andy Wordsworth, who runs the four teams in the Bakewell area, said: “Ian and Hayley have had a great impact on the Bakewell team since they started there earlier this year and they will do the same in their two new areas.

“Jon Taylor was a fantastic PCSO and a familiar face in the communities he served, and although he will be greatly missed by the public and his colleagues, he’ll make a top PC.

“It’s important that the two Safer Neighbourhood teams he looked after continue to have such a high quality policing service and Ian and Hayley will both do an excellent job.”
