Police crackdown on speeding in Matlock

Officers from the Wirksworth and Middleton Safer Neighbourhood Team have been taking to the roads to put the brakes on motorists speeding in the area.

Police have recently stopped a number of motorists to speak to them about their driving following reports of vehicles speeding along the A615 in Matlock.

PC Dan Mitchel, of Wirksworth and Middleton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Speeding motorists are one of our policing priorities and we are working hard to tackle this. Motorists who exceed the speed limit are not only breaking the law, but they are putting theirs, their passengers and other road users’ lives at risk. After stopping vehicles, we spoke to the motorists about the issue from our point of view when dealing with serious accidents, including delivering messages to family members that their loved ones have been injured or killed. Accidents caused through speeding and reckless driving are completely preventable.”
