Wingerworth youngster takes on 70-mile bike challenge to raise money for animal charity

Nine-year-old Fintan Riley, a pupil at Hunloke Primary School, has decided to take on the challenge for Pet Samaritans in Old Whittington.
Fintan has set up a JustGiving page and has so far raised more than £300 for the charity – smashing his £100 target.

Hide AdHis parents Kerry and Sean Riley, of Wingerworth, said: “We are very proud.
“He is a very kind and caring boy, he adores his little sister and is always willing to help other people.
“He likes a challenge and was eager to do the work for a pet charity as he loves animals.
“We have our own dog but he gets so excited when he sees other animals.”
On his JustGiving page, Fintan said: “I love animals.

Hide Ad“This month I am cycling 70 miles to raise money for a local charity.
“Their aim is to home abandoned, orphaned, injured and unwanted pets, small animals and wildlife.
“Please help all the lovely animals by donating some money.
“I have my own pet dog.
"Her name is Lexi and she was a rescue dog, very helpful and friendly – but snores.”
He added: “Thanks to everyone who has supported me.
“All of the comments are really helpful, kind and positive.
“You all deserve a medal for kindness and positivity.
“I never thought I would raise this much.
“Thank you so much, everyone.”
On Monday, Fintan had already notched up 40 miles.
