Taylor Wimpey, which has built properties at Hunloke Grove, Wingerworth, has helped an array of good causes since 2019 including funding new sports kits and keeping children safe on their journeys to school.

Ross Clarkson, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, said: “For us, building homes is about so much more than just bricks and mortar and we regularly reach out to the local community to offer support for worthy causes and initiatives.”

Rykneld Swimming Club gained £500 sponsorship from the company last year which was put towards a new backstroke wedge to help the club’s young athletes’ practice for galas at Sharley Park Leisure Centre in Clay Cross.

Peter Rainbow, head coach, said: “Being able to buy additional equipment goes a long way to help the talent who train at our facilities, giving them the best chance possible of coming away with a winning medal when they compete at other pools with backstroke wedges.”

As well as monetary donations, Taylor Wimpey has helped with schemes for primary schools in the area including World Book Day vouchers and supporting Walk to School Month, with hi-visibility wristbands given to pupils.

Tupton Primary and Nursery School in Chesterfield, received a £500 donation in May this year towards the school’s Early Years reading programme and World Book Day activity.

Headteacher Katherine Richards said: “We’re enormously grateful for Taylor Wimpey’s contribution to our Early Years reading initiative and their help has allowed us to produce fantastic goody bags which our children can take home and get excited about reading again.”

The housebuilder has also previously arranged health and safety talks at the school, helping pupils learn necessary skills in a fun way.
