A number of theatres across the UK have already announced that their pantomimes will not be going ahead this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Beauty and the Beast – which promises to be a ‘spellbinding pantomime adventure’ – is currently scheduled to take place at the town’s Pomegranate Theatre between December 4 and January 3.

Councillor Kate Sarvent, Chesterfield Borough Council’s cabinet member for town centres and visitor economy, said: “We reopened the Pomegranate Theatre for film screenings on July 24 and there are lots of great films for the whole family with many more still to be announced.

“We will provide further updates on the return of live performances – including the pantomime – in due course, but this is subject to Government guidance and regulations.”
