Poorly children at Chesterfield Royal Hospital will find receiving treatement a little less scary after a generous gift from the town’s Utilita branch.

Little ones being treated in the children’s ward at Calow hospital will now have access to two ride-on cars which they can use in dedicated breakout areas and to whizz their way through the corridors as they go to and from treatment sessions.

They were gifted by the team at the Utilita office in Chesterfield who said they did so to give children receiving inpatient care a chance to get in the fast lane and to bring a smile to their faces during a stay in hospital.

A spokesperson for Chesterfield Royal Hospital said: “We are immensely grateful to Utilita for the children’s ride-on cars – they have gone down a storm here and have really helped to raise spirits. These donations really do make a difference to the hospital stays of children.”
