Staveley woman died after pain relief 'misadventure'

A 51-year-old Staveley woman died after using a pain relief patch alongside her usual prescription drugs, an inquest was told.

Sharon Carty, of Devonshire Street, died at her home on January 6 from the effects of using a fentanyl patch combined with her normal prescription medication.

Chesterfield coroners’ court heard she did not know the potential effect of combining the two different medications.

Recording a verdict of misadventure, assistant coroner Emma Serrano said the cause of death was mixed drug use and bronchpneumonia.
