I went to the station for the first time in a while on Friday night and was sorry to see Platform One News had closed.

I posted about it on my Twitter page and a number of people replied to express their sadness at the news.

A sad sight.A sad sight.
A sad sight.

One woman said: “Sad to see this, always popped in when I was coming back up.”

“Very sad, it was a very useful service,” said a man.

“We used it a lot on our travels down to London.”

Another added: “Awful news. Hope the numbers stack up in six months’ time and another taker comes along.”

A sign in the window of the empty unit states ‘to let, new opportunity’.

Businesses based at railway stations, along with train operators, have been hit hard by the pandemic.
