“Crucially, their finances are already devastated by the historical lack of statutory funding for end-of-life care.

“In addition, their loss in fundraising income and the need to meet additional costs of adapting services has had a dramatic effect.

“We were pleased to be asked by Ashgate Hospicecare if we could help – and more importantly were very proud to have been able to contribute such a significant amount from our Community Leadership Scheme funds.

“Obviously certain criteria had to be satisfied and the request ticked all the boxes.

“It was a no-brainer as lots of people have been touched by the work of the hospice.”
