Police slam drivers for 'inconsiderate' parking outside Derbyshire primary school

Police have hit out against ‘inconsiderate’ parking outside a Derbyshire primary school during pick-up and drop-off times.

Officers from Clay Cross Safer Neighbourhood Team revealed they had been made aware of the issue near Pilsley School in a post on Tuesday.

They also shared a Facebook picture of the parked cars, showing many had mounted the pavement.

“It has been brought to our attention regarding inconsiderate parking at Pilsley School,” they said.

“Out of camera shot is a lady pushing a wheelchair who had to cross over the road due to a vehicle that had not left enough room for them to get passed... totally unacceptable.

“We understand that parking is an issue at all schools but it is for all of us to park sensibly and safely. Local officers are monitoring and will engage with drivers that fail to comply.”

According to Highway Code, you should not park near a school entrance while yellow zig-zag lines indicate where stopping or waiting is strictly prohibited.
