Derbyshire police issue update after Staveley BMW crash

Police investigating a crash in Staveley which saw a car leave the road and cause extensive damage have issued an update.

Derbyshire police said the driver of the BMW had been ‘identified and spoken to’ but their investigation is continuing.

The incident took place on the A619, near the roundabout at Morrison’s supermarket, on Saturday, September 4 at about 11pm.

A force spokesperson said: “The driver, who is a man from Warwickshire, has been identified and spoken to and inquiries are continuing.”

Passer-by Carl Troke told the Derbyshire Times eight police cars were at the scene and police photos showed the damage to the vehicle and the roadside railings.

Other residents reported that speeding cars were a problem in the area.

Rebecca Kennell said on our Facebook page: ”Speeding cars happen all the time around Staveley, I live on Lime Avenue and the amount of cars and motorbikes that bomb it down the road make it an accident waiting to happen.
