Much-loved Jack – whose charity fundraising exploits captured the hearts of millions of people right across the UK and indeed the world – passed away at the grand old age of 108 in April last year.

Now, a pathway has been named Jack Reynolds Way – complete with a sign – in Hollingwood, the village where he lived for most of his life.

Jack’s daughter Jayne Goodwin, 60, of Brimington Common, said: “This is a wonderful tribute to my dad.

“We're all absolutely delighted with it and so proud.

“After he died, I knew I had to do something to make sure he would never be forgotten – so I got in touch with the council and that’s how Jack Reynolds Way came about.”

Jack Reynolds Way is about halfway up Sycamore Road – where Jack lived with his beloved wife Kathleen – and the pathway leads up to Laurel Crescent.

Jayne added: “Me and my sister Christine and brothers Mike and Chris used to run up and down the pathway when we were out playing as kids – so it seemed very fitting to name it in memory of our wonderful dad.”

Covid-permitting, it is hoped there will be an official ceremony to unveil Jack Reynolds Way on what would have been his 109th birthday in April.

Jayne added: “I’d like to thank Chesterfield Borough Council and Staveley Town Council for making Jack Reynolds Way happen.”

Great-great grandfather Jack - dubbed ‘Britain’s oldest daredevil’ – made headlines across the globe for achieving four Guinness World Records after his 100th birthday, raising thousands of pounds for many good causes.
