Steve Perez told the Derbyshire Times he had put the idea to the NHS and was awaiting a response.

Mr Perez said: “I think Casa would be perfect for this – it’s in an ideal location with great access, we have a big car park and we have lots of rooms and facilities.

“I have many members of staff who would be willing to help out.

“There wouldn’t be any charges – it would all be free.

“The sooner we can get the people of our community vaccinated against this horrendous virus, the quicker we can get back to normality and doing the things we all love.”

Before Christmas, Chesterfield MP Toby Perkins said there would be a vaccination centre in Chesterfield from ‘early January’.

On Thursday, vaccinations began at Derby Arena.

The venue is the largest of several sites in Derby and Derbyshire being used to carry out coronavirus jabs.

Other new sites include Sharley Park Leisure Centre in Clay Cross, Babington Hospital in Belper, Thornbrook Surgery in Chapel-en-le-Frith and St Oswald's Hospital in Ashbourne.

They join sites in Dronfield, Ripley, Bakewell and Long Eaton, plus two hospital hubs at Royal Derby and Chesterfield Royal.

Derby and Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is managing the vaccine roll-out across the county.

A CCG spokesperson said: “Vaccinations will be rolled out to more sites over the coming days and weeks – as the vaccination programme continues to build momentum.”

Vaccinations are all by appointment only.

People should not contact their GP about a vaccination unless asked to do so and they should not attend any vaccination site without an appointment.

So far, two vaccines have been approved in the UK – the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.

Care home residents, the over-80s and health and care workers are being prioritised for inoculations.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson hopes nearly 14 million people will have been offered the first dose of a vaccine by mid-February.
