WestOne Capital Group has submitted a planning application to build a 133-room hotel and 34 apartments, along with a café and restaurant, on currently vacant land at Basil Close.
Members of Chesterfield Borough Council’s planning committee are recommended to grant conditional permission for the application at a meeting on Monday.

“The applicants have provisionally agreed terms with a budget hotel chain.
“The hotel clients and apartment residents will help to contribute to the local economic growth as well as improving the local environment as no use of car to access the town is required.”
A report which will be considered by members of the planning committee states: “The proposal has the potential to have a significant positive impact on employment with jobs at the hotel.

Eight parking spaces would be created as part of the proposed development.
The report added: “The site is close to the rail station which will be particularly attractive to hotel visitors – however, there are many public car parks in the vicinity which can be easily utilised in connection with the development.
“The developer may separately have a discussion with the borough council regarding an arrangement for parking on its car parks for hotel guests and residents of the apartments.”
