New high street business given go ahead in Staveley

An empty shop in Staveley is set to be brought back into use after plans to turn it into a café were given the green light.

Chesterfield Borough Council has given developers the go-ahead to transform the ground floor of 41a High Street into an eaterie.

The 28 sq metre floorspace will feature a kitchen area with customer facing display fridge, an area for seating and a separate toilet area.

Planning documents on the council website say: “The proposal will enable the re-use of an existing empty retail unit and support the vitality/viability of the centre with a mix of retail uses.”

A conservation officer who reviewed the application recommended any new signage should be ‘of a size and design that respects the character of the Staveley conservation area and setting of listed buildings’.

Opening hours for the venue have not yet been revealed.
