My favourite things: Chesterfield College principal loves Chatsworth estate and Barlow's Peacock Inn
Chesterfield College principal Julie Richards has offered an insight into her favourite places to visit in Derbyshire.
We asked her to name five top destinations in Derbyshire as part of our new column, My Favourite Things.
Do you agree with Julie’s favourites?
Favourite place to visit – Chatsworth House and Park
This is an incredible place to visit, particularly through all the different seasons of the year. I especially love the herds of red and fallow deer who are frequently seen when walking through the park.
Favourite landmark – Crooked Spire
Having visited the church so many times as child, it is still an iconic place for me and always reminds me of home.
Favourite restaurant – Stones of Matlock
This is a beautiful modern restaurant with fine cuisine and ideal for a special night out.
Favourite pub – Peacock Inn at Barlow
The food, especially the Sunday lunch, is wonderful. The pub has a warm and friendly atmosphere with an open fire and the customer service is excellent.
Favourite shop – Bigwicks, Chesterfield
It sells a beautiful collection of candles and aromatherapy products with great gifts for birthdays and Christmas.
