Massive blaze in Chesterfield was started deliberately, firefighters say

A huge fire in Chesterfield in the early hours of this morning was started deliberately, an investigation has concluded.

Firefighters were called to the blaze outside Black Diamond Spas, a hot tub business on Sheffield Road in the Whittington Moor area, at around 12.30am.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service told the Derbyshire Times: “Four fire crews from Chesterfield, Staveley, Dronfield and South Yorkshire’s Lowedges attended the fire which involved 12 palettes.

“Crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and prevent its spread to the adjacent building and vehicles.

“Sheffield Road was closed while crews dealt with the incident.

“An investigation into the cause of the fire has determined it was a deliberate ignition.”

A Derbyshire Constbaulary spokesperson said: “Nobody was hurt in the incident – however, a significant amount of damage was caused.
