As reported last week, Chesterfield Civic Society said it was ‘unhappy’ that Bar35 on Stephenson Place had erected the sign over its entrance ‘in breach of planning rules’.

Victoria Naylor, owner of Bar35, is now seeking retrospective planning consent from Chesterfield Borough Council for the sign to stay – and said she had not been ‘underhand’ by putting it up.
She added “Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion – but at the end of the day the council will make the final decision on whether or not the sign is appropriate.”

“We are also considering the objections raised by the civic society, which will be taken into account during the decision making process.
“A decision will be made on the future of this sign soon, but we cannot comment on the progress of the application at this time.”
