Former working men's club near Chesterfield to be auctioned with starting bid of £185,000

A former working men’s club near Chesterfield - which shut down two years ago - is going up for auction.

The freehold property at Rothervale Road, Birdholme extends to more than 10,000 sq ft and includes function spaces, a snooker room, offices and a three-bedroom apartment on the first floor. There are grounds at the rear of the 0.8-acre site.

Bids for the former Birdholme WMC will start at £185,000 in the online auction on November 10, 2026 which begins at 10am.

A spokesperson for BTG Eddisons, which is conducting the auction on behalf of Bothams, said: “The building could suit a variety of different uses as well as being suitable for demolition and residential development, subject to planning permission.”
