Floral tributes left by Chesterfield Canal to honour hero schoolboy Logan Folger

Messages saying ‘Bro’ and ‘hero’ have appeared alongside blue balloons, flowers and heartfelt tributes to the 14-year-old who passed away on Saturday.
They appeared close to the site of where Logan was pulled from the canal, at Mill Green, Staveley, by emergency teams last Wednesday.

Hide AdAn inquest was told yesterday that Logan had been trying to help one of the two friends he was with when he got into difficulty in the water.


Tributes have also continued to pour in for Logan, of Bird Street, Staveley.
Briteney Poole said Logan was a ‘legend’.
“From been a young lad you’ve always had an heart of gold Loagy,” she posted on Facebook.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue crews were called to Mill Green last Wednesday and firefighters have been left devastated by the news of Logan’s death.

Group Manager Lee Williams said: “I would like to extend the thoughts and sympathy of everyone at Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and to the family and friends of the deceased at this distressing time.
“It’s yet another reminder of how dangerous open water can be due to hidden currents or debris, and the risk of cold-water shock.
“Please remember Float to Live, and if someone’s in trouble in the water call 999 and ask for the Fire Service.”
Opening an inquest into Logan’s death yesterday, Derbyshire coroner Peter Nieto said he had passed away at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

The coroner said it appears to have been a ‘tragic accident’.
