He said: “We have an outstanding team of unsung heroes at Brookholme.

"Every member of staff gives an exceptional level of care. I’m delighted that their dedication and kindness has been recognised.”

The news has been welcomed by staff who have gone above and beyond the call of duty this year.

Many have made personal sacrifices, including limiting contact with their own families, and putting their social lives on hold, to ensure the safety of residents at Brookholme Care Home.

Care home manager and finalist Donna Redman said: “Our residents are very dear to us, and we will do all we can to protect them.

"This has been a challenging year for the team, so we are humbled to be shortlisted for so many awards.”

Brookholme Care Home has been unable to welcome visitors since March of this year, so activities at the home have been more important than ever.

Staff have gone to great lengths to keep residents entertained and their minds active.
