Edna Goodwin and Marjorie Martin were born in 1920 and have both lived in Chesterfield for most of their lives – now residing at Holmewood Care Home, in Barnfield Close, Holmewood.

To mark their centenaries, the ladies were showered with cards, gifts, and bouquets of flowers, alongside receiving their telegrams from the Queen.

Jeanette McCallen, home manager at Holmewood Care Home, said: “Edna and Marjorie are the queens of our care home and it was wonderful to see them both receive their telegrams from HRH Queen Elizabeth after turning 100 within a week of each other.

“They both received dozens of cards and gifts from friends and family and had a lovely day marking their milestone.

“They are both perfect ladies and a joy to care for and we were honoured to make their birthdays a really special occasion.”
