Derbyshire teenager dies in motorway crash

Police have revealed a teenager from Derbyshire tragically died in a crash on a motorway in Worcestershire at the weekend.

At around 8.15pm on Sunday, a white Audi A3 left the carriageway between junctions two and three of the M42 westbound.

The vehicle collided with signage before continuing down an embankment.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “The driver and a passenger exited the vehicle with non-serious injuries but were taken to hospital as a precaution.

“A third man, aged 18 and from Derbyshire unfortunately – despite life support treatment from the ambulance and fire teams – died at the scene.”

PC Rich Allen, from the force’s operations patrol unit, said: “This is a sad incident and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased man.
