Katie Brown, 29, and her daughter Stephanie, of Heanor created the artwork out of paper mache, sandpaper, stickers, gems and paints.
It includes notable landmarks in the town including Swarfega, the coal mining history, William Gregg and the Heanor Antiques Centre.
Katie, who grew up in Heanor and moved back to the town last year, said the inspiration for the collage was the chance to spend quality time with her children.
She added: “My son and daughter are both autistic so my son usually is clung to me and that leaves me with little one on one time with my daughter so to make sure I got that time with her during the school holidays, I asked Stephanie if she would like to do something together like a project.
“We started looking at paintings and art work people had made but we wanted to do something everyone could enjoy and look at. Stephanie then said to me ‘mummy, make our home picture’ so I got designing the picture with Stephanie picking each thing out.
“During our six weeks project we've actually learnt so much about Heanor that I never knew about, from research online to the public on social media telling me about Ladybird books and Swarfega and even about William Gregg VC.
"I'm so proud of how Stephanie has done with our art project and taking the lead with it. I'm so proud of her and couldn't be more happier with how it's come out. She's excited to tell her new teachers at school too!”
The art is now on display at Infinite Wellbeing in Heanor for the next five weeks and then it will be on show at Bizy Lizy Books.
