Derbyshire man seen by millions as he wins Sky billboard contest to promote Leeds United

A Derbyshire man will be seen by millions of people after he won a contest to promote his beloved Leeds United.

Mick Bailey, of Killamarsh, is currently appearing on the famous Two Towers digital billboards heading into Leeds city centre.

He is also featuring on a digital billboard in the bustling heart of the city.

The adverts include results of the Sky Bet and YouGov Fan Hope survey, which was carried out ahead of the start of the Premier League 2021-21 season to find out supporters’ expectations.

One of the ads says that 76 per cent of Leeds fans are optimistic about their chances this season.

Mick, who has supported the Whites for more than 40 years, said: “It’s an absolute honour to be promoting the team I love.

“I entered this in June and was absolutely delighted to have made the cut – Sky Bet said they liked my style and I was chosen as winner out of thousands of entries.

Mick said his five-year-old son MJ is ‘very proud’ of his dad.

“Before he finished school for the holidays, he drew a picture of me on a billboard – he’s very excited about the whole thing,” Mick added.

Mick is one half of the Bailey Brothers.

Mick and his younger brother Dez – who went from mining down the pits to hosting the Headbangers Ball on MTV in the 1980s – have worked alongside the likes of David Bowie and Def Leppard.
