The Hill Care Group, based in Dunston Road, Chesterfield, has donated £7,421.20 to Macmillan Cancer Support after a year of fundraising.

The group’s 38 care homes across Derbyshire, Yorkshire and the north have all organised fundraising events throughout 2019/20.

Since April last year, there have been numerous coffee morning events, including participating in Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’.

The homes have also organised supermarket bag packs, sponsored leg waxes and head shaves, car washes, walks and bike rides, cake sales, a sky dive, sponsored silences, and more.

Wendy Waddicor, managing director of the Hill Care Group, said: “I am so proud of all our staff, residents, relatives, volunteers and supporters for their amazing efforts over the past year to raise funds for such a worthwhile cause.

“Despite Covid-19 restrictions affecting fundraising efforts from March 2020, we still managed to raise an amazing amount, which will go towards supporting those affected by cancer.”

Hannah Lumb, from Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “It has been a pleasure working with Hill Care right from the beginning.

"They were always so eager to raise funds and thinking of different ideas of how to do this.

“It was a pleasure to see many individuals also taking on challenges to go towards the collective total and great to see all the different homes getting involved.

“The money will go to helping support people living with cancer up and down the country, meaning we will be able to offer emotional, physical and financial support to many more people.”
