Chris Woolgar, 35, and friend and business partner Jen Frazer, 29, have used their time creatively during the pandemic to come up with the idea of ‘Quarantine’.

Contestants in the game are isolated in their home and must work cooperatively to defeat a virus – by following rules similar to those laid out by the Government during lockdown.

Jen, who used to live in Chesterfield and attended St Mary's School, said: “The game has a tongue in cheek humour with players on the hunt for essential items such as pasta, yeast and toilet roll in order to defeat a virus.”

Chris, who was born in Hasland and went to Hasland Hall School, St. Mary’s School and Sheffield University, still lives in the town and is part of a local board gaming social club.

He works as an engineer at AECOM’s office in Chesterfield.

Quarantine is centred around a family of six - mum, dad, granny and three children.

Jen said: “Each player has different character traits making them useful for different tasks needed to succeed in the game.

“Players must work cooperatively to rid the house of the virus, which is moving ever closer to them, stopping it from breaking through the walls of the house, mutating and replicating – and all while conserving their limited food supply.

“To win the game players must formulate three parts of a cure by gathering up a variety of items which are distributed around the house, before someone becomes infected or runs out of food.”

Chris and Jen say that although the game is based on very serious events, it is fun to play with family and friends.

“The boardgame has been created by two friends, with the purpose of sharing delight and entertainment with others,” Jen added.

Jen and Chris’ company, founded remotely, is called Frazzled Wool, and they have posted the game on Kickstarter, a crowdfunding platform which helps get creative ideas off the ground.
